Celebrating Innovation in Ageing at the Ageing Startup Pitch Stadium

On 8 May 2024, the Ageing Startup Pitch Stadium, a highlight of the 15th World Ageing Festival co-organised with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), was held at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. The event provided a platform for entrepreneurs to present innovative solutions for the ageing population, projected to reach a market potential of US$4.56 trillion by 2025. Categories included Health Longevity, Active Ageing, Caregiving, Mobility, Loneliness, and Assisted Living, showcasing ageing as a social and economic opportunity.

This year, Glorious Care was honored with the SUSS Geronpreneurship New Innovation of the Year 2024 Award for their outstanding contribution to the eldercare industry. This groundbreaking platform is designed to alleviate the burden on caregivers by reducing administrative tasks by 30% and significantly improving staff retention in an industry challenged by high turnover rates.

In an exclusive interview, Junus Eu, co-founder of Glorious Care, discussed their mission and vision:

Can you provide a brief introduction to your startup and how it improves the lives of older adults or addresses the needs and challenges of ageing?

In a world where our elders are living longer but facing more complex health challenges, the echo of ‘Caregivers need care too’ resonates more profoundly than ever. Within this landscape of love and duty, professional caregivers, family members, and migrant workers often feel stretched thin, under-appreciated, and overlooked.

Glorious Care is here to bring a wave of change, reducing the heavy burden of administrative tasks to allow care workers to focus on what truly matters: the well-being of seniors. By slashing the time spent on paperwork by 30% and doubling staff retention, we aim to address the 77% care worker churn that costs care organisations at least US$170,000 annually.

Our vision is driven by a simple yet powerful belief—technology should enhance our human connections, not replace them.

What inspired you to start this venture focusing on ageing and aged care?

My mission to improve eldercare is very personal and deep-rooted. In my gerontological work, I witnessed firsthand the challenges care operators face in recruiting and retaining quality care workers.

What are your hopes for your startup?

To be the gold standard for care worker qualifications, allowing care workers to get paid equitably and elevate the caregiving industry.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are interested in starting a venture in the ageing industry?

The ageing industry is not an easy one—you need to be very mission-driven to make this work.”

With their deep-rooted mission and innovative approach, Glorious Care is setting a new standard in the eldercare industry, empowering caregivers and supporting seniors to age gracefully. Their dedication to enhancing the caregiving experience ensures a brighter, more compassionate future for both caregivers and those they serve.
