Christmas celebrations at the senior facilities

Christmas is said to be the “most wonderful time of the year” and many of us spend Christmas at home with families. To share the Christmas cheer, these organizations jazzed up the Christmas season by engaging the seniors and their residents in a variety of activities and prepared a feast for them. We hope that these initiatives have brought some warmth and joy to the seniors this holiday season.

Lions Home For The Elderly

On 8 Dec 2022, our residents at Lions Home enjoyed a fun-filled Christmas celebration where they had the opportunity to feast on a delectable premium spread, presented in bento boxes alongside games and freebies for each resident. They welcomed the festive season with joy and glee. We are certain this celebration adds a little sparkle of joy to all our seniors as they celebrate Christmas!

Sata CommHealth

29 seniors participated in a Christmas party organised by the staff at the Community Hub @ Fernvale on 20 December. It was definitely a night to remember! There was food catered which the volunteers helped to serve, as well as peach log cakes that everyone enjoyed. Our staff came together to perform Christmas carols for the seniors and there was a lucky draw with gifts contributed by doctors and nurses. The seniors thoroughly enjoyed the festive time with staff and volunteers at SATA CommHealth.

Thye Hua Kwan Senior Care Centre @ Kaki Bukit

Here at Thye Hua Kwan Senior Care Centre @ Kaki Bukit, the seniors worked on Christmas arts and crafts which they enjoyed very much. Art therapy prevents cognitive decline for seniors and different sessions were planned to keep them busy during their time in the day care centre. Their unique masterpieces were repurposed into decorations to decorate the centre.

Domitys Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Nothing seems to bring people together like Christmas! Today, we celebrated the joy and wonders of the holiday season with our ‘Christmas At Domitys’ party at Domitys Bangsar Kuala Lumpur. The Christmas spirit was truly alive as the participants graced us with their ukulele performances and jazzercise moves! We would like to thank everyone present for making it an occasion to remember!

Handicaps Welfare Association

This year to celebrate Christmas, our team organized an Art group making Christmas ornaments and a cooking group making pizzas. This activity enabled our clients to immerse in the festivity while socializing. It is also a form of exercise to practice on their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Our clients went home with a sense of satisfaction as they each managed to complete their craft.

Sree Narayana Mission (Singapore)

SNM (Singapore) had our Christmas events over the weekend at our different business units filled with laughter, food, and good cheer, igniting happiness in the hearts of many of our residents. Over at our Care centres, our residents enjoyed the companionship of friends during this festive season with performances from our staff and volunteers for our residents.

Our Senior Care Centres also celebrated Christmas with volunteers from NTUC FairPrice Indirect Procurement Team who organised games and a best dressed competition and enjoyed cake and snacks together.

At Meranti Home, our residents had a great time as they watched performances and danced to popular songs sung by our staff such as “Staying Alive” and received gifts from Santa.

NTUC Health

The spirit of Christmas was high at all the NTUC Health centres. At Nursing Homes, staff and seniors decked out their wards. At the Nursing Home (Jurong West), there was even a competition for the “Best Decorated Ward”. Look closely and you’ll find that sustainability has been key in creating all the set-ups and decorations. From recycled cardboard, to old PVC pipes and 1.5 litre plastic bottles, many waste materials were recycled to create Christmas set-ups such as trains and fireplaces. Staff at various Day Centres for Seniors also designed many activities to uplift our seniors’ mood. At the Day Centre for Seniors (Boon Lay), our seniors played Christmas bingo and won presents! Staff even got dressed up as Santa and his elves. For seniors at home, staff brought the yuletide cheer to them. These seniors created Christmas decorations with our Home Care Associates to get into the festive mood and liven up their homes.
