As one of Australia’s best-known architectural specialists in the Elderly Care industry, David has worked on major domestic projects across private, public and charitable sectors. He has directed work on significant international projects located in Asia, United Kingdom, Canada, and USA. He has been instrumental in developing ThomsonAdsett’s reputation as a Specialist Consultancy Practice through the expansion of Retirement and Aged Care divisions in key growth markets around Australia.  



Mr Arthur Koumoukelis, Partner, Dentons Australia (Formerly Gadens), Australia

Arthur Koumoukelis

Arthur is a partner of Dentons (formerly Gadens Sydney) and has been with the firm since 1989. He holds degrees in Commerce (Accounting and Information Systems) and Law and a Masters of Law and is a public notary. Arthur has specialist knowledge and practice in the aged care and retirement village industries and heads Denton’s national and Sydney aged care and retirement village practice. He also leads the not for profit and tax areas of the firm. His practice centres on advising operators on all aspects of the regulatory framework, contracts, commercial structures, mergers and acquisitions and disputes to the industries. He is a regular presenter to boards of operators and providers and industry associations. Arthur has been the primary adviser to major projects in Australia including Mark Moran Vaucluse and Harbord Diggers Freshwater. He has developed a specialist aged care loan product with La Trobe Financial Services.

With more than 15 years’ experience, Julie has worked with some of the most innovative designers and hoteliers from around the world and has been a leader in translating this experience into the residential and broader commercial arenas.Julie’s background in the health sciences, boutique hotels and designing avant-garde and functional commercial spaces, has enabled Julie to be one of the pioneers in cutting edge interior architecture and design in the Aged Care and Retirement Living space. Combining home-like features together with functional aesthetics, enables Meli Studio’s client to consistently achieve their goals.Julie is the Creative Director and Principal of Meli Studio. She leads all projects within the Aged Care and the Retirement Living portfolio. It is a personal passion of Julie’s to reinvigorate all spectrums of Aged Care Living in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

Mr Marlin Marpaung is currently the President Director of PT.Jababeka Longlife City, the organisation that was set up to operate Senior Living @ D’Khayanganas, a pioneer business in Indonesia to serve seniors to enjoy golden age. Mr Marlin was an integral part in attracting partners in the development of Senior Living from local investors and fostering foreign partnerships to ensure Senior Living@D’Khayangan meets Japanese world-class quality standard. Mr Marlin has a background in Accounting and Business Development, with a passion in entrepreneurship. He is goal oriented and has high personal integrity at work. Mr Marlin is also experienced in business development in various sectors such as health, hospitality, education, and property and is enthusiastic and actively engaged in innovation, information systems, marketing, and multi-layer networking.



Mr Patrick Ong, Principal, ThomsonAdsett, Australia

Patrick Ong is a principal at ThomsonAdsett, a specialist architectural practice in Australia with over 40 years experience in the seniors living industry. ThomsonAdsett invests heavily in research and development to ensure awareness of latest trends and developments within this industry. As a result, it has delivered innovative models in care provision, services delivery and aptly targeted lifestyle products. Patrick Ong is an architect with over 25 years experience, has been at ThomsonAdsett for the past 10 and is a key contributor to the firm's research and development programmes. He has worked on seniors living projects in Australia and, more recently, China. He has designed retirement lifestyle projects in collaboration with other specialist consultants to deliver buildings which are accompanied by marketing strategies, financial models and operational models suited to a client's brand. Majority of these projects exceed average sales expectations. He is well recognised as one of the leading seniors living architects in this region and has been a keynote speaker at various seniors living conferences throughout Australia, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and China.



Mr Soelaeman Soemawinata, Chairman, Real Estate Indonesia (REI), Indonesia

Mr. Soelaeman Soemawinata is the Chairman of Real Estate Indonesia (REI). He has served as a Project Manager of PT Perentjana Djaja from 1988 to 1993. From 1994 to 2007, Mr. Soemawinata served as a General Manager of PT Alfa Goldland Realty. He has been a Director of PT Bukit Asri Padang Golf since 1997. He served as a Director of PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk since January 30, 2007 until February 25, 2015. He served as a Director of PT Adhihutama Manunggal from 2000 to 2007 and PT Alfa Goldland Realty. He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1998.

Tony has been working with major private and community based organisations in the aged care and seniors living market throughout Australia, China and other parts of the Asia-Pacific Region for over 20 years. Formerly Founding Partner and Chairman of one of Australia’s leading strategic advisory and project management companies, Tony founded Bridge Advisory Group as an advisory company with a specialist focus on this critical sector. In this capacity, Tony and his team bring skills and vast experience to clients through areas such as market analysis to financial modelling with a strong focus on achieving successful projects that are market relevant and financially viable.
