Dr Jane Lee, JP, being the Director of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council, has been playing an important role in the development of elder care in Hong Kong. Under her leadership, the Council has been pioneering a number of elderly services in the past few years.  She also chairs the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund (SIEF) for the Hong Kong SAR Government. As stated in the website of SIEF, she is described as undoubtedly a “social-enterprise-enthusiast”, and with “an adventurous character”, she has been venturing into a wide spectrum of fields, including academic teaching, research, management, policy analysis as well as social entrepreneurship in addition to social services. Apart from this, Jane also promotes social innovation in various capacity and involves in a number of other public service positions, NGO boards and School Councils in Hong Kong and Macau.


 

Dr Kanwaljit Soin, Author, Orthopedic Surgeon and Former Nominated Member of Parliament, Singapore

Dr Kanwaljit Soin is a practicing medical specialist and was Singapore’s first female Nominated Member of Parliament.  She is a founder of many civil society organizations including WINGS (Women’s Initiative for Ageing Successfully) and AWARE (Association of Women for Action and Research).  She was a global ambassador of UK-based HelpAge International which serves disadvantaged older people worldwide. 

 

 

In 2000, she was presented the “Women Who Make a Difference Award” by the International Women’s Forum, Washington D.C.  In 2006, Dr Soin was presented with the lifetime Achievement Award by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (Unifem) Singapore. She was named Singapore’s “Her World Woman of the Year” in 1992, and in 2014 she was inducted to the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame.

 

In 2018 she wrote a book entitled “Silver Shades of Grey” – Memos for Successful Ageing in the 21st Century.

After graduating from the University of Tokyo in 1996, he received his doctorate later in 2002. Cliff Cook is founder and cornerstone shareholder of LifeCare Residences which builds and operates retirement villages in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Cliff has over 30 years’ experience in the NZ healthcare and retirement community sectors. He was the founder of NZ listed Metlifecare Ltd, founder, executive member and Chairman of the Retirement Villages Association of NZ. Gustav Strandell is the CEO at Maihama Club Nursing Home. Mr Ong Chu Poh, Founder of ECON Healthcare Group, set up the group’s first nursing home in 1987 in Singapore. He has has extensive management experience in both MNCs and local organisations. Mr. Tada"Michi" Shimogawara was born in Tokyo in 1971. He is founder/CEO of Silverwood Ltd. of Japan from 2000. He started the planning and development projects for the elderly housing and facilities from 2005. He launched rental housing for requiring long-term care "Ginmokusei-Kamagaya" and special rental housing for the aged in which a person receives medical "Ginmokusei-Ichikawa". One of the stances is preventive long-term care, he investigates development like a second-home until they pass away for best end-of-life of residents. Ms Grace Chan is a social worker and currently working on the Innovation and Technology for Ageing of Hong Kong Council of Social Service, which is an umbrella federation of over 470 non-governmental organisations that are providing quality social welfare service through 3,000 operating units in Hong Kong.  Ms Chan sits on several networks and committees in the statutory bodies of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. She is a former member of the Elderly Commission.  At present, Grace is one of the Board of Directors in the International Federation on Ageing, which comprises government, industry, academic and non-governmental members in over 70 countries, representing some 75 million older people, and she also serves as the Vice President (Innovation and Technology).

She used to be the president of Chiang Mai Medical school Alumni, Neurology society of Thailand, Thai Headache society. Currently, she is the  Chair of the Ethic Committee of the Royal College of Thai Physicians and Vice president of Thai dementia Society. Her responsibility is taking care of public awareness of dementia prevention, training workshops for caregiver, nurses and helpers in the rural area.  She was the very first person who could foresee the importance of the caregiver so she has done research in Caregiver training and also created the curriculum for  Caregiver training standard in Thailand.

 

 

Nowadays for 8 years, she has been the president of  Meesuk  Society which is claimed to be the first and the most famous complete services for demented elderly in Thailand. The society works under the theme of Small but complete service. Therefore  It consists of the first small private Nursing home, Daycare service, Caregiver training school and Siwaporn medical centre. Our simple and low cost style has inspired physicians and businessmen in several sectors such as real estate, architect and geriatric fields and investors.  Each year we welcome more than 30 groups of visitors from all over the country and CEA to learn no how from us. Her present interest is nonpharmacologic prevention and treatment dementia including improving lifestyle meditation. Her slogan in taking care of her customers  or her patients is:Happiness is the key and understanding is the tool
